We are currently experiencing a convergence of three key trends that can make it much harder for people to live well:
1) Chronic illness is on the increase: and the current approach to dealing with this is late-stage reactive healthcare, such as various types of medication to mask symptoms. We believe the existing healthcare framework is necessary and staffed by wonderful people, but it is overburdened and unable to deal with the rising tide of lifestyle disease. A more proactive and preventative approach is needed to help people and take pressure off existing healthcare systems.
2) Information overload is burgeoning: any individuals seeking out information online to treat their health, energy and wellbeing issues are at major risk of buying into fad and pseudo-science. Many people are drowning in information but starving for wisdom. We believe that all consumers – whether they be elite professional athletes or busy business executives – deserve an approach to health and performance that is grounded in evidence-based science and years of applied experience.
3) Wearable technology is a minefield: people looking to improve their health and performance using wellness apps and wearables are vulnerable to inaccurate measurements, information and guidance. It doesn’t matter how shiny the technology looks on the surface, health apps and wearable tech are only as good as the research from evidence-based medicine that underpins them. We believe technology, education and coaching needs to be wholly based on clinical literature so that people have peace of mind in the tools they are using.
